Abstract
A Malignant Schwannoma is rarely tumor. Since these tumors are derived from nerve sheathes and not from axons, there is controversy in regarding histogenesis and terminology.
The diagnosis of malignant Schwannoma is very difficult. Because, similar morpholologic pattern in that tumor in the intestinal tract has caused confusion between benign and malignant tumors of the smooth muscles and tumors originated from the nerve.
There was no significant predilection in age and sex distribution. These tumors are occasionally associated with von Recklinghausens disease, and the excision or amputation is recommended in the case of large or recurred tumor. Regional lymph node excision is unnecessary.
The authors have experienced one case of malignant Schwannoma in sciatic nerve not associated with von Recklinghausens disease.
